What is surgical menopause?

Surgical menopause occurs when both ovaries are removed (bilateral oophorectomy), causing an abrupt drop in estrogen and other hormones. Symptoms can be more sudden and intense than natural menopause. Hormone therapy is often considered, especially for younger women, after individualized risk assessment. Hysterectomy vs ovary removal
