Does HormoneFit prescribe non-hormonal hot flash medications?

Medically reviewed by Dr. Nathan Roth, MDCM, FRCSC, FACOG · Updated 2026-11-01

Does HormoneFit prescribe non-hormonal hot flash medications?

Yes. When HRT is declined, contraindicated, or insufficient, clinicians may prescribe evidence-supported non-hormonal options such as certain SSRIs/SNRIs, gabapentin, oxybutynin, and, where available and appropriate, newer neurokinin-3 receptor antagonists. Choice depends on mood, sleep, blood pressure, and drug interactions. HormoneFit individualizes non-hormonal therapy rather than using one default pill.

  • Multiple non-hormonal drug classes exist
  • Some antidepressants help both mood and flashes
  • Side-effect profiles guide selection
  • Non-hormonal ≠ “natural supplement only”

What to expect

Benefit is often a reduction in flash frequency/severity rather than total elimination. Follow-up adjusts dose or switches class if needed.
