Do I need a referral for menopause care in Ontario?

Do I need a referral for menopause care in Ontario?

It depends on the pathway. HormoneFit virtual membership care can usually start without a referral. Some hospital-based or public specialist clinics require a family physician or NP referral and may have long waits. In-person OHIP-insured visits through HormoneFit are arranged with the clinic and may involve different intake steps. Referring clinicians are always welcome via our referral page.

  • Virtual HormoneFit: typically no referral required
  • Hospital specialty clinics: referral often required
  • Bring prior labs and oncology/genetics notes when relevant

Choosing a pathway

If you need timely virtual assessment for vasomotor symptoms, sleep, or GSM, self-referral to a licensed virtual clinic can reduce delay. If you need procedures, complex bleeding surgery, or hospital resources, your family doctor’s referral network remains essential.
